My aim in producing this site was to provide a solution to sharing the photos from my brother's wedding with people who weren't able to attend the event. I had considered using an off the shelf package or a site like Flickr but felt that a personal site hosted on my own web space would be a more personal gift for the happy couple.
Since the wedding was an intimate and elegant event, I set myself the brief to produce a clean and simple site where the elements would remain understated yet complimentary to one another.
As the main purpose of the site was to share photos, I decided the images should be allowed to hold considerable screen space alongside associated text.
Hand coded in XHTML and CSS, the pages conform to a landscape layout and use consistent positioning for the header and footer to create a bordering element for the pages.
To add an element of interactivity, photos are displayed using a linked lightbox approach that gives the user an elegant 'slideshow' experience that launches over the top of the hosting page.
